5* HOTEL / KEFALONIA
PROPOSAL

Gallery Blue Hotel consists of 72 rooms and 22 suites, with a total capacity of 320 beds, in a 35-acre beachfront located at the eastern end of Kefalonia and surrounded by wild, dense vegetation.

The complex develops mainly on the East-West axis, as the plot in the South is adjacent to the provincial road Poros – Skala while in the North it reaches the sea. In total, the complex consists of two reception buildings, the East and West, thus providing the possibility of partial operation, depending on the period of the year and availability as well.

The rooms are organized in groups, composing a settlement of small building volumes, which, depending on their location and orientation, delimit plateaus, paths and stops, while, on the contrary, the suites are developed linearly, parallel to the plot’s elevation curves, and consist of two-level autonomous buildings, which are in direct contact with the natural environment.

The aim of this study is to create an innovative resort, consisting of smaller individual complexes, as well as private homes, thus providing the visitor with the possibility of complete isolation.

The design is based on simple and modern forms which enhance the plot’s unique view, providing quality architecture of high standards with respect to the very special landscape of Kefalonia. Designing based on bioclimatic architecture, we achieve a fairly high level of sustainability, through energy saving and low costs within a very unique building environment. Many of the buildings seem as an extension of the landscape itself, an element which is reinforced by the use of local materials, such as the stone walls acquired by the excavation process.
