Situated in Karaiskaki square, one of the busiest spots of the center of Athens, one can find the Corner Café, on the ground floor of the “Stanley Hotel”. Our design’s main intention was to create a modern take away café, which would reflect the old Athens’ architecture materiality, while adding a pleasant touch of green to the urban landscape of the Athenian center.
The corner facade of the building, which has been strategically chosen for the location of the café, is coated with two surfaces that serve as frames, thus composing a solid volume, which adheres superficially to the transparent frame of the ground floor.
The large slabs of Arabescato marble as well as concrete effect that have been used in the facade, create a very interesting contrast, while harmoniously conversing with a more pop-style interior along with the colors of mint and puce which dominate the café’s interior, emphasizing this way in its modern style.
Finally, from the top of these frames, hang various artificial ivies, adding a fresher style to the entire design, while pleasantly predisposing the visitor to taste the different fresh products this café has to offer.
